Our Heritage

Casa Travella was founded in 1987 when Linda & Pietro Travella saw an opportunity to offer Italian property for sale. At this time there were very few companies indeed that offered any property for sale in Italy. Linda and Pietro are both bilingual and with their knowledge of Italy and some basic legal training that Linda received ,the idea was formed and put into action. 25 years later! Here is some of their story. The very first ad for the company was put into The Sunday Times in 1987!

The company was formed and fronted by Linda and Casa Travella started selling property on Lake Como, where Pietro comes from and Linda had worked and lived. The company were able to offer advice on numerous properties and ongoing help with all aspects of the buying process from various professionals that they knew in the area. If a client wanted to restore a property then Linda would source the best tradesmen and professionals for the job. Buying Italian real estate took on a whole new identity.

From there the regions increased when Linda realised that there was a demand for differing types of property and service. The company offered a personal service with Linda often taking clients to view personally with her associates in the various areas.

The company flourished and in 1994 Linda was presented with an award by the Mayor of Como for promoting tourism on Lake Como with Gianni Versace being placed in 2nd place! By this time the company had started selling in other regions and whilst there was a recession in 1989 Linda used that time to establish new contacts and open up new regions for the business. Throughout the 1990’s the business continued to develop and Linda joined The Federation of Overseas Property Developers, Agents and Consultants and was very quickly asked to sit on the committee, became Vice Chair on 2 occasions culminating in 2000 with becoming the Federation’s first woman chair, a post she held for 4 years.

When the BBC was looking for someone to speak on BBC Breakfast News about European property Linda was chosen to appear live on the programme. Other TV and radio programmes followed including Radio 5 Live, and ‘I want that House’ with Mark Simpkins, where Linda appeared in 6 programmes the last one being a live programme from Florida, with Linda speaking about Italy and where an Italian apartment was given away as a prize. Programmes were made by Linda for RTE the Irish TV channel and for Channel 4‘s ‘A Place in the Sun’ where Linda accompanied Amanda Lamb along the shores of Lake Como by boat, to show her some of the stunning villas for sale including the one owned by George Clooney and some information on property for sale on Lake Como and in Italy.

Linda is known as the Italian expert and journalists of National and International magazines and newspapers contact Linda for advice and help with various articles, specific areas and information on the property market in Italy.

The Casa Travella team are always pleased to help when clients want to buy or sell a property in Italy and when Linda is in Italy on business the London office is run by Paolo, Linda’s assistant.

Pietro Travella looks after the technical side of the business and Peter is in charge of the media and social networking and public awareness of Casa Travella.

Linda’s knowledge of the Italian language and people have helped her establish a successful business that has, so far, spanned 25 years and survived two recessions.

Linda’s enthusiasm for Italy and property for sale in Italy is obvious when you speak to her. Linda says:

‘ I feel proud that we can offer property for sale almost all over Italy and are able to give clients independent advice on areas to suit their budget and needs.

A few years ago it would have been easy to have increased the size of the company but the personal touch would have been lost and that is the foundation on which Casa Travella has been built.

The Casa Travella team look forward to helping you with your Italian property purchase in the future or selling your Italian home whichever it is.
